How to get into the Neuschwanstein Castle

If you plan to discover the fascinating city of Fussen via public transport, you can ride a bus or train from Munich to Fussen. The journey will only take 2.5 hours through the beautiful place of Allgäu. Better to catch the train which runs every a couple of hour. The best way to get into the Neuschwanstein Castle is to reach the nearby Hohenschwangau Castle. From Hohenschwangau, there are many options to get into the Neuschwanstein Castle.

Bus: The bus starts form Schlosshotel Lisl to Marienbrücke. The shuttle bus is not allowed to drop off passengers at the castle’s entrance. From Marienbrücke, you have to walk downhill for 10 minutes. Taking a bus from an uphill trip from Schlosshotel Lisl will cost you 1.80 euros. Buses operate regularly all year round. However, there are no buses available when there is road ice or snow.

Horse-drawn carriage: It more fun to ride and roam around using a horse carriage.

Walk: You can take a walk for about 30-50 minutes on a steep paved from Hohenschwangau to the castle.
